2013 Victorian Alliance House Tour: Mission District, Sunday, October 20th

Tickets are available now for the Victorian Alliance's 2013 House Tour. This year the tour spotlights San Francisco's Mission District with a focus on South Van Ness Avenue's Mansion Row. It's on Sunday October 20, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Tickets purchased prior to October 11, 2013 are $45.00. After October 11, 2013 and on the day of the tour, tickets are $50.00. You may purchase online at www.victorianalliance.org.

The tour is self-guided and entails walking from home to home where you'll be able to see inside. The rooms inside are staffed by a Victorian Alliance docent who can tell you about the property as you make your way through a house.

As stated on the Victorian Alliance website: Founded in 1973 by concerned citizens who were worried San Francisco was in danger of losing its Victorian past, the Victorian Alliance remains the city's oldest all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of historically significant structures. Examples of projects the Victorian Alliance has contributed to in the past include the restoration of the Palace of Fine Arts and the box office of the Castro Theatre.

In addition to attending the yearly house tour, which is the Alliance's main fund raising event, it is recommended you consider becoming a member of the Victorian Alliance. Monthly meetings provide tours of public and private structures throughout San Francisco and often feature talks or lectures by property owners or authors familiar with the history of the property.
