Open House Tomorrow, 2-4 pm, 11/17/13: 397 Whittier St, Daly City, CA 94014

Join us tomorrow, November 17, 2013 for our first Open House at 397 Whittier Street, Daly City, CA 94015 between 2:00 and 4:00 PM. This is a two story, corner home that has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two car garage. It has a stucco exterior and the interior boasts an ornate fireplace, central heating, panoramic views and refinished oak floors. Situated on the San Francisco/Daly City border, you have access within minutes to transportation (MUNI, BART & Samtrans) and the 280 freeway.

The home is located in what is known as Original Daly City close to Top of the Hill which is the intersection of John Daly Boulevard and Mission Street. Per www.dalycityhistory.org, Daly City is named after John Daly who, in 1868 acquired 250 acres of land to own and operate the San Mateo Dairy. Immediately after the 1906 earthquake, John Daly opened up his land to provide temporary shelter for many San Franciscans fleeing the devastation in San Francisco. By 1907, John Daly began subdividing his land because he recognized the land was better used to house people rather than to operate a dairy. By 1911 the city of Daly City was officially born.

John Daly lived until 1923. His namesake city was sparsely populated until after World War II, when returning soldiers created a large need for housing and much of the land between Top of the Hill and the Pacific Ocean became housing developments such as Westlake. Now, Daly City is the most populated city in all of San Mateo county.

397 Whittier Street is located in the most historic part of Daly City. Visit our Open House tomorrow and see if the home will become part of your history.
